2nd Annual Beach Bucket Fun Run 5K and 1 Mile Walk/Run on beautiful Daytona Beach. The run begins on the beach behind the Beach Bucket Bar & Grill at the Harvard Beach approach. All proceeds benefit the Ormond Beach Kiwanis Foundation, Inc., a 501(c)3 not for profit entity, which supports the five elementary schools in Ormond Beach and other area NFPs benefitting children. Embry-Riddle President’s Speaker Series Concludes Spring 2013 with Two Events: April 15th- U.S. Air Force Maj. Gen. Margaret Woodward and retired U.S. Air Force Brig. Gen. Daniel Woodward will talk about their experience as aviators, commanders, leaders and followers. The Woodwards are both Embry-Riddle graduates who made history as the first married couple to hold the rank of brigadier general at the same time. They will participate the next day, April 16, in the university’s annual Veterans Appreciation Day. April 23- Syndicated columnist Diana West will talk about the successes and failures of the left and the right, which are covered in her upcoming book, American Betrayal. The Woodwards and Diane West will be interviewed by Marc Bernier, special assistant to the president, and will be broadcast on 1150AM WNDB and www.marcberniershow.com. The Daytona Beach Food Roadie Rodeo will take place at The Daytona Beach Kennel Club & Poker Room, Saturday April 20th, from Noon – 6:00 pm. Food trucks feature a unique array of ethnic delicacies ranging from barbecue and seafood to ice cream and cupcakes. Admission is free. Jim Jenkins, the organizer of this event says, “Food Trucks are all the rage in the food business right now and I am very excited to be bringing the experience to the Daytona Beach Kennel Club! Most of the menu items are under $10 which allows people to sample a variety of foods while enjoying live music and the dog races. So, come hungry while we rally ‘round the food trucks”. St. Johns River Cleanup

In conjunction with National River Cleanup, the next St. Johns River Cleanup will be from 8:00AM to 11:00AM. go to www/volusia.org/cleanup for online registration. Pre-registered participants will receive a free T-shirt and reusable shopping bag. Plastic bags and gloves will be supplied at each site. Volunteers should wear comfortable clothing and closed-toe shoes and bring work gloves. Rakes, shovels and trash grabbers may be helpful but not necessary. Steps should be taken to protect yourself from the sun. Bottled water is a good idea to bring. Volunteers with vessels who can get on the river are welcome also. Tires, white goods (appliances, electronics) and hazardous waste will be piled separately from other trash. Annual Halifax Oyster Festival

On Saturday, April 27, 2013, the Fourth Annual Halifax Oyster Festival Presented by Jon Hall Chevrolet and Daytona Hyundai will take place on Manatee Island in the Intracoastal Waterway in downtown Daytona Beach, Fl. from 11am to 9pm. Under the management of Al Smith Productions, the Halifax Oyster Festival is devoted to supporting oyster reef restoration. Admission is $6/person and children under 7 get in free. The day-long family-friendly event will feature raw and steamed oysters. Local restaurants and food trucks will offer a wide variety of oyster dishes like Oysters Rockefeller, Oyster Stew and Fried Oysters as well as other popular festival food options including cold beer, a full bar and Pepsi products. Festival goers can take free paddle board rides provided by Three Brothers Boards, sailboat rides, a cornhole contest and hands-on oyster mat construction lessons. Festival proceeds will fund the Marine Discovery Center’s mission to restore healthy oyster beds to Volusia County’s Intracoastal Waterway. Live entertainment throughout the day and evening on two stages will feature popular bands C*Posse, Steel Daddy, The Love Band, Are Friends Electric and national recording artist, Big Engine as the headliner. YPG Community Service Keep DeLand Beautiful Day!
