The Museum of Arts and Sciences is the primary art, history and science museum for Volusia County.  Nestled in the beautiful 90-acre nature setting of Tuscawilla Park, the museum presents guests with an entertaining and educational look at the fascinating worlds of art, science and history.  Selections from the museum’s permanent collection of Cuban fine and folk art, African ceremonial and domestic objects, American fine and decorative arts, and rare Chinese artifacts, are always on display in the museum’s permanent galleries.  Well-known museums across the nation provide works of art in all genres for display in the museum’s changing exhibitions galleries.

The Center for Florida History is home to the best and most complete skeleton of a Giant Ground Sloth ever discovered in North America.  The Bouchelle Center for the Study of International Decorative Art provides visitors the opportunity to explore and interactively study over 1,000 items on display.  Families can enjoy a variety of exciting space and astronomy shows in the museum’s 120-seat planetarium or go on a wilderness adventure for 90 acres of interpretative nature trails.

The museum also operates Gamble House, the area’s first historic house named after James Gamble of Proctor and Gamble fame.  The 150-acre park preserve in neighboring Port Orange is a wonderful example of rustic southern cracker architecture.  Various lectures and film presentations on art, history and science for children and adults are regularly featured in the museum’s 265-seat Chapman Root Hall.

The Museum of Arts and Sciences is located at 1040 Museum Blvd., off Nova Rd. in Daytona Beach.  Museum hours are 9 a.m.- 4p.m.  Tuesday through Friday, and noon to 5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.  Admission is $5 for adults, $1 for children and students, and free for museum members.  Planetarium admission is $3 for adults and $2 for children and students.
