The
Southeast Museum of Photography
An outgrowth of Daytona Beach Community College's
active photography program, the Southeast Museum is the only museum in the
Southeast devoted entirely to photography. Opened in 1992, the handsome
10,000-square-foot facility hosts changing exhibits of historical and
contemporary photography as well as lectures, symposia, children's
programs, print viewing in its permanent collection and study in its
extensive library.
The Museum’s permanent collection contains
thousands of photographs by some of the most notable photographers of the
20th century, as well as examples of nearly every photographic
process employed in the medium’s 150-year history. The Museum also houses a burgeoning regional collection that
emphasizes the Southeastern United States and the Caribbean.
Selections from the museum’s collections and
from other museums around the world are regularly on display in changing
exhibitions, while print viewing facilities permit public access to works
in storage. A slide archive
and library also are available for photographic research.
