Homeless individuals are not as visible since the panhandling and trespass ordinances were approved in Daytona Beach, but there is still a need for assistance. Panhandlers have since turned up in Ormond Beach, Port Orange, and elsewhere.
With less funding from the Florida Department of Children & Families, it’s becoming difficult to stretch our current allocations.
In addition, the First Step Shelter plans to open in October but several issues must still be addressed…
