March Eggs & Issues Program - Proposed Half-Cent Sales Tax

Join us for Eggs & Issues on Thursday, March 14 at 7:30 a.m. at LPGA International featuring a discussion of the proposed half-cent sales tax in Volusia County. Voters will be able to decide on a proposed half-cent sales tax referendum (mail-in ballot) with a May 21 deadline. Former South Daytona City Manager Joe Yarbrough and Volusia County Manager George Recktenwald will discuss a number of topics related to the referendum, including:

  • Why is a sales tax needed?
  • How much revenue will it generate?
  • What are the road and water quality project needs in each city and the county?
  • If approved, how will money be distributed?
  • Will there be any oversight procedure?

Eggs & Issues is sponsored by The Daytona Beach News-Journal and  University of Central Florida Daytona Beach.

Each month, Eggs & Issues provides a forum for discussion of the legislative and public affairs topics that are important to our business community. Attendees will be able to gather information on local, state, and federal priorities.

Cost is $15 for Chamber members with 24-hour advanced RSVP, $20 day of event, $30 non-members. For more information on the program, please contact Jim Cameron, at 386.523.3673.
