DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. (July 14, 2026) – Bethune-Cookman University’s College of Nursing and Health Sciences has earned a second national accreditation with the recognition of its Master of Science in Nursing Education (MSN-Ed) program.
Granted by the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN), the designation places MSN-Ed alongside the university’s Bachelor of Science in Nursing program, both of which meet rigorous national standards.
Designed to help address a shortage of nurse educators, the MSN-Ed program prepares registered nurses for teaching, mentoring and leadership roles in academic and clinical environments. Offered fully online through B-CU Global, the 12-month degree provides working professionals with a flexible pathway to advanced credentials.
“Earning ACEN accreditation reflects years of dedication from our faculty and leadership to build a high-quality program that prepares the next generation of nurse educators,” said Dr. Beverly Bonaparte, Dean of B-CU’s College of Nursing and Health Sciences. “I want to recognize Dr. Miriam Griffin, whose leadership was instrumental in guiding the program through the accreditation process. This achievement affirms the strength of our curriculum and assures students that they are enrolled in a program that meets rigorous national standards while preparing graduates to lead, teach and help strengthen the healthcare workforce.”
ACEN granted initial accreditation following a comprehensive review process – led by Dr. Miriam Griffin, chair of B-CU’s Graduate Nursing Programs – that included candidacy designation, a self-study evaluation and an on-site review. The accreditation remains in place through the MSN-Ed program’s next scheduled review in fall 2029; that visit will also include the Baccalaureate of Science in Nursing (BSN) program’s review as well.
The MSN-Ed program received approval from the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges in January 2024 and welcomed its first cohort during the 2024-2025 academic year.
