DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. (Oct. 19, 2026) – Bethune-Cookman University (B-CU) is launching B-CU Ascend, a new continuing education initiative designed to help community members, faculty, staff and alumni gain industry-recognized certifications and build skills for career advancement.
Beginning this spring, B-CU Ascend will offer a selection of “stackable” certifications in fields ranging from healthcare and public safety to business and entrepreneurship.
“Dr. Mary McLeod Bethune believed education was one of the most powerful tools for creating opportunity and changing lives,” said Dr. Albert D. Mosley, President at B-CU. “B-CU Ascend builds on that foundation, carrying her vision into a new era by giving more people the ability to gain knowledge, develop their talents and prepare for what comes next. It reflects who we have always been – an institution committed to education as a force for service, progress and possibility.”
B-CU Ascend will offer certification opportunities across five areas:
In addition, a real estate agency licensure program is in the works for a future launch.
Most B-CU Ascend courses will be offered online; the CNA and PN certificates will be offered on campus. There is no application fee, and those interested are encouraged to complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). While applicable state testing and licensing fees are separate, there are no additional costs for books, materials and other supplies.
