BETHUNE-COOKMAN UNIVERSITY LAUNCHES ‘B-CU GLOBAL’ PLATFORM, BREAKING BARRIERS TO HIGHER EDUCATION

Grammy-Winning Songwriter Sevyn Streeter Makes History as First Enrollee in Transformative Online Learning Initiative

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. (Oct. 7, 2025) – Grammy-winning songwriter Sevyn Streeter is making history as the very first student to enroll in ‘B-CU Global,’ a transformative online learning platform that reimagines access to higher education for the 21st century. As a Bethune-Cookman University legacy, Streeter’s decision to pursue her degree marks a powerful start for the initiative, which is designed to help people with even the busiest schedules pursue their education goals.

‘B-CU Global’ expands access to the university’s accredited bachelor’s and master’s degree programs through flexible online pathways designed for modern life. The program is tailored for three key groups: veterans, working adults and “reclaimed Wildcats” – those who began their B-CU journey but haven’t been able to finish.

With the ability for self-paced learning (that include weekend and evening classes), credit for prior professional experience and affordable payment plans, ‘B-CU Global’ removes barriers to higher education and helps students complete their degrees on their own terms. Registration opens mid-October, with classes beginning in Spring 2026.

Streeter’s enrollment also reflects her personal connection to B-CU as a legacy Wildcat. With a rich family history on campus, her journey underscores the university’s enduring impact across generations – and the new ways it continues to create access for the future.

“The ‘B-CU Global’ initiative builds on Dr. Mary McLeod Bethune’s unwavering belief that education should be accessible to all,” said Dr. Albert Mosley, President of Bethune-Cookman University. “For more than a century, B-CU has empowered students to rise, achieve and lead. Today, through the power of technology, we are carrying that vision forward – opening doors for veterans, working adults and Wildcats returning to finish what they started. This is ‘B-CU Rising – All of us. All in.’”

Students can pursue bachelor’s degrees in psychology, criminal justice, business administration, interdisciplinary studies, and national security and global affairs. Graduate students can choose from master’s programs in nursing, Christian ministry, business administration, organizational leadership, exceptional student education, and integrative environmental science. Additional programs – including Master of Arts in Teaching, Master of Science in Education, and the Educator Preparation Institute – will launch soon.
