(Daytona Beach, Fla., April 24, 2025) – Florida Health Care Plans (FHCP) is proud to announce that a dedicated and longtime leader has been named GuideWell’s 2025 Volunteer of the Year. Anisa Justice, administrator of Product Development and Underwriting, is receiving this prestigious recognition for her commitment to volunteering with Special Olympics Florida.
FHCP, an affiliate of Florida Blue and part of the GuideWell family of health solutions companies, provides primary and multispecialty care to its members at over 30 clinical and administrative sites located throughout Brevard, Flagler, St. Johns, Seminole, and Volusia Counties.
Justice’s journey as a volunteer began in high school when she worked with special needs students in the school gym, which ignited a lifelong passion for helping individuals with disabilities through sports.
“It keeps me going and volunteering is one thing I look forward to doing each week,” said Justice. “Any challenge I encounter in life is minuscule compared to what these athletes face every day. They have so much perseverance and strength, which is so inspirational!”
Believing every individual deserves the opportunity to participate and succeed, she empowers the athletes by providing unwavering support—traveling to games, offering transportation to practices, and adapting her coaching style to meet their individual needs. This dedication has not only changed the lives of her athletes but has also enriched her own.
“I learned I have a lot more that I can give. I didn’t know I was capable of loving other people as much as volunteering has taught me to love. Outside of being a mom, this is the most rewarding thing I’ve ever done in my life,” she said.
As part of GuideWell’s recognition, Justice received a $5,000 grant for the nonprofit organization of her choice: Special Olympics Florida.
“By devoting her time and energy to Special Olympics Florida, Anisa is not only making a tangible difference in the lives of others but also inspiring her FHCP colleagues to do the same,” said Tracy Williams, FHCP President and CEO. “Volunteerism is essential to helping our communities thrive. I’m proud to work alongside individuals like Anisa who share our company’s commitment to volunteerism and supporting the communities where we work and live.”
“Don’t be afraid to try something new,” Justice added. “Just have more patience and understanding, and show kindness, grace and empathy to those with disabilities. There are so many opportunities to volunteer, not just coaching.”
