My Top 5 Places to Park for Daytona Beach Public Beach Access

Submitted by John McNamara

Summer is here, and Daytona Beach is one of the best places in Florida to enjoy the sunshine, ocean breeze, and beautiful Atlantic surf. But before you can enjoy a relaxing beach day, there is one important thing every visitor has to figure out first: where to park.

Finding beach parking can be challenging, especially during the busy summer season, weekends, holidays, and special events. I am John the Dolphin Expert, and even though my main focus is dolphins, marine life, and Florida travel, I wanted to put together a helpful parking guide for anyone planning a Daytona Beach day.

After researching the public beach access areas and nearby parking options, here are my top 5 best places to park for Daytona Beach public beach access.

1. Sun Splash Park Parking Lot

Sun Splash Park is my top choice for a family-friendly beach day. Located near 611 S. Atlantic Ave, this parking area gives visitors convenient access to the beach, a park setting, and a practical place to start the day.

It is a great option for families carrying towels, bags, beach chairs, umbrellas, and coolers. Instead of driving around looking for a spot near a beach ramp, you can park, walk to the sand, and enjoy the ocean.

2. Ocean Center Parking Garage

The Ocean Center Parking Garage at 701 Earl Street is one of the best options for visitors who want to be close to the Daytona Beach Boardwalk, Pier, Main Street, restaurants, shops, and attractions.

This is a smart parking choice when the beachside areas are busy or when visitors want to spend part of the day on the beach and part of the day exploring the main tourist area. For first-time visitors, this is one of the most useful parking locations in Daytona Beach.

3. Sun & Surf Park Parking

Sun & Surf Park, located at 726 N. Atlantic Ave, is a strong choice for visitors who want beach access without being right in the middle of the busiest Boardwalk and Main Street area.

This parking option works well for people staying in the north Daytona Beach area or anyone who wants a slightly quieter beach day. It still offers good convenience while giving visitors a more relaxed beach experience.

4. University Blvd Lot

The University Blvd Lot at 834 N. Atlantic Ave is useful because it serves several nearby beach access points, including University Blvd, Seabreeze Recreation Center, Zelda Blvd, Horizon Condo Access, and Seaview Ave.

This makes it a flexible parking choice for visitors. If one access point is busy, there are other nearby options. During the summer, having a parking area that gives you more than one beach access choice can make a big difference.

5. International Speedway Blvd Beach Ramp

For visitors who want the classic Daytona Beach experience, parking directly on the beach through the International Speedway Blvd ramp is one of the most popular options when the ramp is open.

This is a great choice for people who want to keep beach gear close to the car and enjoy Daytona Beach the traditional way. However, beach driving and on-beach parking depend on weather, tides, ramp conditions, and county rules, so it is always smart to check the current beach driving status before going.

After the Beach, Cool Off with Dolphins Near Daytona Beach

Now that you finally found a place to park, enjoy the beach, the Daytona surf, and the beautiful Atlantic Ocean. But I also know the beach may not be your only destination this summer.

After a hot day in the sun, you may want to gather your belongings, leave that convenient parking spot, and drive north up A1A for an unforgettable marine life experience. If you are looking for Swim with Dolphins near Daytona Beach, one of the best options is in St. Augustine.

During the summer months, there is often a 3:15 p.m. last session of the day, which means you can spend most of the day enjoying Daytona Beach and then head north for a dolphin program.

You can choose the Swim with Dolphins St Augustine program if you want a more interactive in-water dolphin experience. Or, if you prefer a non-swim option, the Dolphin Encounter St Augustine is also an amazing choice.

Both programs are wonderful ways to make your Florida summer beach day even more special.

Final Thoughts

Daytona Beach is a wonderful summer destination, but a good beach day starts with a good parking plan. Whether you choose Sun Splash Park, the Ocean Center Parking Garage, Sun & Surf Park, University Blvd, or the International Speedway Blvd beach ramp, planning ahead can save time and make your visit much easier.

Since I don't live in Daytona Beach, this is my research of the top parking on beach. I would love to hear from the locals of their favorite parking places. Please email me at
